Cilantro will grow for me in zone 8 through the winter. It gets knocked back when the temps get in the 20s, but it bounces back and by spring it’s going gangbusters. It really does prefer cooler weather so you might try again.

I feel about bacon the way you feel about lardons. I could be a vegetarian but I don’t know if I can give up bacon!
