Dennett - I think Vander has an injured foot and/or leg. When a bird curls its toes like that it usually means an injury. I have seen that before in Goldfinches and House Finches.

I am glad you had a chance to be with your women friends. That's so important, especially as you have so much stress in your life right now. I hope you are able to retire soon.

I hope you get rain soon, too. We have had a little rain, but not near what we need. We have wildfires burning in three places around us - 2 are less than 20 miles away. We need rain so desperately! We have had higher than normal temps as well - thank you global warming.
