If you are in the Northern hemisphere, winter will soon be upon you. Winter is a difficult time for many people. The cold; the dreary days of rain or snow; the lack of light; the colds and flu; being cooped up indoors — these are all things that can make winter a miserable time.

I have to admit, however, I am one of those odd folks who love winter. I have learned to anticipate it as a time of rest and renewal. This aspect of winter appeals to me because I have a hard time allowing myself to rest during the other seasons. The blessing of winter is it gives us permission to slow down.

What if with a few tweaks to your home, your activities, and your outlook you could begin to embrace winter, and possibly even learn to love it?

Before I begin, I want to acknowlege that some people just love to hate winter. My mom was that way. She didn’t want anyone trying to change her mind about it, especially me. If you are like my mom, I honor your right to complain about winter and be as miserable as you want to be. You don’t have to keep reading if you don’t want to.
