I have been noodling a piece about this but you just said it all. One thing I would add is that if my mom were alive at 82, this cover would make her feel less-than. It would not empower her but make her feel like a failure. Martha has the resources to look fabulous at 80 and I don’t begrudge her that. I admire her for so many other reasons though, and I don’t think we need her looks held up as a measure for the rest of us.
