I left the church years ago because I felt it had long ago abandoned Jesus's teachings of love, compassion and caring for others in exchange for a political belief system that vilifies, blames and shames ordinary people who are doing the best they can. There is no doubt that the hypocrisy of supporting a man like Donald Trump will drive thinking people further away from the church and will stain Christianity with his vileness for years to come. The church has some soul searching to do, but it has to get its head out of its ass to do it.
