I remember the first time I saw a Cooper’s hawk take a chickadee off my feeder. I was devastated. But my husband reminded me that the hawks need to eat too. Still, I felt like I was just inviting my birds to their death by keeping the feeders up, so I took them down until the hawk moved on.
