I started using my mom’s silver for my everyday table wear when I needed to replace my mismatched stainless. I use citric acid based dishwasher soap and they come out sparkling. Occasionally a rub with silver polish keeps them tarnish free.

I also use my grandmother’s etched crystal wine glasses and my mother-in-law’s china. There is no reason to save these for a special occasion. Like you said, every day we are alive is special!
