I worked with seniors with dementia for 10 years and our policy was to always preserve their dignity. Everyone deserves the care they need given with respect for the life they have lived. Having to change an adult is not as easy as changing a baby simply because they ARE an adult. We have our own fears about being in the same boat one day. But this should remind us to care for them the way we would want to be cared for. It’s not easy for either party but can be made bearable by our empathy and compassion.
