I'm so glad you found a support group that is helpful. There is so much power in knowing we are not alone and having others witness our pain with understanding. The key is not to stay there but to move through it. It seems like you found a good one, and there is no substitute for a good therapist! I would not be where I am today without mine.

You are right about so many parents not knowing what they did. While the adult children who have commented on my stories have been indignant that I would suggest that parents don't know, they are simply wrong. Many of us don't really know, even if, like me, they can see where they have made mistakes. But I made mistakes with all my kids and my daughter is the only one who estranged herself.
