I’ve fired more doctors than I can count! Currently I have a nurse practitioner who is a dream to work with. She respects my decisions about not taking certain medications and works with me to find ways to manage my health without them. She’s young enough to be my daughter but she has never condescended to me or treated me as old.

I agree with everything you said here, Julia. Until the system changes we have to work hard to find a good care provider that respects our intelligence and our knowledge of our own bodies.
