Jocelyn - There is so much to unpack in your comments.

First, I think both sides benefit from keeping us angry and afraid of one another. A very sad commentary about the politics in our country.

Second, detachment can sometimes be a temporary fix, but when we shut down, we also shut out the good in our lives. I have been guilty of this, but I try to sit with the hard things instead of shutting down.

Third - Pema is a lifesaver. Her work has guided my life for many years and it's always good to go back and be reminded of her teachings. I will pick up a volume today. Thank you.

Finally - anxiety has been my lifelong companion and I can't stand it either. I have learned to tend to it instead of railing against it or ignoring it or pushing it away, though, and it helps a lot.
