My mom always had tissues in her pockets, and when she died, I found tissues in all states of use; barely used, obviously very used, and soft and tatty from hanging out in her sweater pocket for so long.

I also keep tissues in my pockets at all times because allergies cause my nose to run all the time, and I never know when I am going to cry and need one.

It sounds like you don't need to worry about becoming like your mother when it comes to your relationships, so I wouldn't sweat being like her when it comes to snatching napkins. :)
