Oh Melissa, I am so sorry! I hope you made it safely to your destination, if a little rattled.

I have discovered something amazing — when my husband retired and stopped the daily commute, his driving changed! He is much more laid back and less aggressive. I barely have to remind him when he is going too fast, and when I do, he accommodates me without complaint. Who is this man? I am loving this. I also had a heart to heart with him and explained that I am not criticizing his driving when I say something, that I am expressing my own anxiety. Because he knows I struggle with anxiety this seemed to get through his defensiveness.

I know you probably can’t make your husband retire, but maybe you could explain that this is about your discomfort, not about his driving. Maybe it would work?
