Rene - Thanks for your comments. I laughed when you said he follows you around telling you about what he's doing at work. I guess I should be happy that all mine does is put his big boots on one of my plants every now and then. But he does go behind me and turn off the lights in rooms I am going right back into, so that's going to have to stop.

Setting boundaries without hurting their feelings is a tough one, isn't it? The male ego can be so fragile, and retirement is not a time to test that fragility. (Sorry guys, if this offends you, but I'm just saying what I have experienced.) I wish you patience, compassion and a great big dose of humor for the coming months as you figure this out.
