Spending time in the garden is something my husband does a lot of, so that's one place he can be without the sound of music. He has his own den upstairs, which is far enough away from the living area downstairs that he won't hear music there, either. Or, I can spend more time in my office upstairs with the door closed.

It's only when we are occupying the shared spaces that there's a problem, so that's where we have to get creative.

I think getting him a pair of noise canceling headphones might be a good solution. You have given me some good ideas, and I thank you. ♥
