Thank you, John, for sharing some very wise advice. I can attest to all of the things you say here. It is especially important for people not to feel guilty when they don't feel loving at all times towards the person they are caring for. Caregiving is a thankless job and can drain you dry.
Also, it is so true about talking to their medical team when they are not in the room, if possible. Doctors and other medical personnel are not trained properly when it comes to interacting with older people, period, even if they aren't demented.
