… aren’t asking that of her. She’s allowed all her emotional reservations, you just want to see her. This feeling on her part that she’s betraying herself in some way if she has contact with you is the stumbling block. I wish you all the best and keep us posted. All we can do as parents is keep the door open.
The apology could be even more terse: “I am sorry that I failed you.” Period.
