This is brilliant! You’re right, they have it backwards. And if you’re one of the last to board you end up having your bag checked anyway.
Of course, checking a bag comes with its own set of problems. It can take hours to find your bag on those overloaded carousels. And god forbid you wait until the last bag is claimed and yours doesn’t come out.
Sometimes I wonder why anyone bothers to fly anymore!
