This is so wise and beautiful, Jenny. Thank you for the reminder that it’s all small stuff and it makes up a life. It can be joyful or stressful, but we choose.
When my husband and I got married a friend gifted us with a wedding cake. It was a small, two tier cake and it was riding in a box on the backseat of her car. The place we got married was up steep, winding mountain roads. The cake slid off the seat and the top tier slid off and smeared the bottom tier. She was mortified! I assured her it didn’t matter and we all ate the top tier the night before the wedding. My sister-in-law did an artful job of repairing the remaining layer. The day of the wedding the topper was placed and it looked beautiful, until the photographer swung around with her big lense on her shoulder and knocked the topper off, breaking it. My step-daughter quickly grabbed a pair of ceramic birds off a nearby table and popped them on the cake. The cake was delicious and we all had a great time dancing until the sun went down. The cake was a small thing and I didn’t make it into a big thing. And it’s a great story to tell!
Thanks again for a beautifully written piece that really touched me this morning. 🙏🏻
