We moved to a tiny town in North Carolina and have been dismayed by the drug and homeless problems here. It breaks my heart and I have no idea how to help solve this. I have a 96 year old friend that volunteers at a center that distributes clean needles. But many in this community think that’s aiding and abetting. They don’t understand how many communicable diseases are spread by using dirty needles. Or they don’t care. It’s a problem that doesn’t have easy answers.
