Your title is exactly how I feel, too. It seems like everything is rushed in this culture. I refuse to rush to put away Christmas just because someone else thinks that’s what I should do. I have kept my tree up until July, in the past, decorating it for every holiday and my kid’s birthdays.
Now I slowly transition to winter decorations that include a lot of my Christmas decorations. I keep the bottle brush trees, the winter cottages, the candles, the snowflakes, the lights and the pinecones. It makes the transition less painful and the process is slow and thoughtful, and even joyful. Much better than stripping the house bare and packing everything up.
Wishing you comfort and support as you process your grief. You are very wise to make space for your process. Sending you light and love. ❤️
